Trump Slams EV Mandates, Musk Calls for New Political Party Over Spending Bill

President Donald Trump criticized electric vehicle (EV) mandates and government subsidies, particularly those received by Elon Musk. Trump said EVs are acceptable, but Americans shouldn’t be forced to buy them. He claimed Elon Musk receives more subsidies than any person in history, and without those funds, companies like Tesla and SpaceX might shut down. Trump also said ending subsidies could save the country a fortune and jokingly suggested looking into Dogecoin (DOGE) as an alternative.

Trump Slams EV Mandates, Musk Calls for New Political Party Over Spending Bill

In a separate statement, Trump promoted what he called the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which he claimed would deliver historic tax cuts, millions of new jobs, stronger border security, and increased military and veteran funding. He warned that not passing the bill could result in a 68% tax increase—the largest in U.S. history.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk strongly opposed the same spending bill. He said that if it passes, he would launch a new political party called the “America Party.” Musk criticized the bill for raising the U.S. debt ceiling by a record $5 trillion, calling it proof that the country is run by a “Democrat-Republican uniparty” that ignores the people. Referring to the current political system as the “Porky Pig Party,” Musk said it’s time for a new party that truly represents citizens and puts their interests first.

In response to a message from Trump suggesting Dogecoin should investigate the subsidies Musk’s companies receive, Elon Musk shot back on X with an emphatic demand: “Cut it all. Now.”

Update

When asked if he would deport Elon Musk, Trump said, “We’ll have to take a look.” He added that Musk is upset about losing the EV mandate but warned, “He could lose a lot more than that.”
