U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing to announce new taxes on imported cars, possibly as early as Wednesday, according to Bloomberg News.
Trump had mentioned on Monday that these car taxes could be introduced this week, even before new tariffs take effect on April 2 against countries with large trade imbalances with the U.S.
The White House has not given a clear date or details about the tariffs. However, when asked about the timing, a government official told Reuters that Trump’s statement should be taken seriously.
