A record number of Americans are worried about being rejected for credit. 34% of people think they will be denied an auto loan, 48% fear they won’t qualify for a mortgage, 32% worry about not getting a credit card, and 39% believe they won’t get approved for a credit limit increase. As a result, 8.5% of Americans aren’t even applying for credit because they assume they’ll be rejected. Moreover, only 63% of people feel they could cover a $2,000 emergency, which is the lowest percentage ever recorded.
