Meta Introduces €13/Month Ad-Free Subscription for Facebook & Instagram in EU

Meta is introducing a paid subscription plan for Facebook and Instagram users in the European Union. This move comes as a response to EU privacy regulations that limit how companies like Meta can target users with ads without their explicit consent.

The new plan, called “SNA” (Subscription No Ads), will allow users to browse Facebook and Instagram without seeing any advertisements. The cost of this ad-free experience will be around €10 per month for desktop users. However, those using the apps on mobile devices will have to pay approximately €13 per month, as Meta is factoring in the additional fees charged by app stores like Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.

This change is aimed at complying with EU data protection laws while giving users more control over their experience. Those who do not wish to pay for the subscription can continue using Facebook and Instagram for free but will still see targeted ads.
