JD.com, one of China’s biggest online shopping platforms, has seen a strong start to its “Exciting Shopping Season” that began on May 13. According to the company, more than 500 million people have already placed orders as of May 27.
This shopping event is part of JD.com’s 618 Shopping Festival, which is one of the largest online sales events in China. The official festival will start at 8 p.m. (GMT+8) on May 30.
Big Sales Growth for Brands
JD.com shared that almost 80,000 brands have seen their sales double compared to the same period last year. This shows that more people are shopping online and buying from a wider range of products.
Livestream Shopping is Booming
One of the biggest highlights of the event is the huge growth in livestream shopping. Sales made through livestreams have increased by nearly four times compared to last year. This means more customers are watching live product demos and making purchases during the streams.
