India-Pakistan Tensions Soar After Kashmir Terror Attack and Border Fire

Tensions between India and Pakistan have flared up once again following a brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir that left 26 tourists dead. The situation worsened with days of cross-border firing, as both nations brace for further escalation.

What’s Happening:

India has blamed the attack on terrorists from Pakistan, identifying two of the three gunmen as Pakistani citizens. Pakistan, however, has denied any involvement and is calling for an impartial international investigation.

Border skirmishes have intensified along the 740-kilometer Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir. Indian officials accused Pakistan of initiating “unprovoked” firing over four straight nights.

In response to the rising tensions, India has announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a key water-sharing agreement, while Pakistan has shut its airspace to Indian flights.

More than 500 individuals have been detained across Kashmir as part of sweeping security crackdowns. Authorities are conducting door-to-door searches in villages and forested areas to track down suspects linked to the attack.
