The lawsuit, filed in San Jose, claims that Google activated Gemini AI across several services, including Gmail, Google Chat, and Google Meet, in October 2025 without notifying users or asking for their consent.
According to the complaint, Gemini scans users’ entire communication history, including emails, attachments, and chat messages. The plaintiffs allege that Google is collecting this information to train its AI models and improve its products without user approval.
It is also claimed that the option to disable Gemini is hidden deep within Google’s privacy settings, making it difficult for regular users to find and turn off the feature.
The lawsuit argues that this practice violates California’s strict privacy laws, which prohibit companies from recording or collecting personal data without clear consent.
Google has not yet issued an official statement in response to the allegations. The case adds to growing concerns over how tech companies use AI tools to access and analyze user information.
