BlackBerry and AMD Collaborate to Revolutionize Robotics Technology

BlackBerry and AMD are teaming up to make robots better. They want to create a really strong platform for robot hardware that works in real-time, meaning it responds instantly.

Their goal is to make robots that are affordable, work great, and can be used in places like factories and hospitals. They’re focusing on making sure these robots are reliable and can handle big tasks.

The BlackBerry QNX software development platform is now incorporating AMD Kria K26 SOM hardware, merging real-time foundational software solutions with the QNX Software Development Platform. This integration enhances QNX microkernel real-time operating system capabilities alongside low-latency, deterministic functions.

The alliance between BlackBerry and AMD aims to deliver an integrated software and hardware platform. This platform ensures that critical robotic tasks achieve precision and responsiveness at an advanced level.

Chetan Khona, senior director of industrial, vision, healthcare, and sciences markets at AMD, expressed that the collaboration of AMD and QNX will establish a foundational platform. This platform promises to stimulate innovation and push the boundaries of robotics technology beyond previous limitations.

AMD says this partnership is a big deal because they believe it will push the limits of what robots can do. They want to make robots that are even better than what’s out there now.
