An Air India Boeing 787-800 passenger plane, traveling from New Delhi to Birmingham, made a emergency landing in Moscow on Wednesday due to technical problems, according to Sheremetyevo Airport authorities. The plane, which had 258 passengers and 17 crew members on board, landed safely without any injuries reported.
The incident occurred while the flight was en route to the UK, prompting the crew to divert to Moscow for safety reasons. Sheremetyevo Airport confirmed that the landing was carried out smoothly, and all necessary safety protocols were followed.
The scheduled departure time of the flight from Moscow was 2135 local time (1835 GMT). The technical issue that caused the diversion has not been specified yet, and passengers are expected to continue their journey once the problem is resolved.
In July, an Air India flight traveling from Delhi to San Francisco made a precautionary landing in Siberia, Russia, after the cockpit crew identified a possible problem in the cargo hold area.
Air India has yet to release further details on the nature of the technical problems or the impact on subsequent flights.
